23/24 Season Recap

Winter 23/24 was another one for the books. The Tetons provided yet again, producing over 425” of snow. Amazing events, unforgettable staff and lots of sunny days defined this special season. Here are some highlights from this incredible winter…

The season started off slowly and our guests waited patiently for the spigot to turn on. The entire American West had a historically slow start to the season. Thanks to our amazing grooming team, we were able to open up 100% of or terrain while other resorts struggled to stay open at all. We got an early season dump that totaled 27” that got us through a long and sunny high-pressure system at the end of December/early January.

Winter started to pick up in the middle of January and the faucet turned on for February. Once it started it didn’t want to stop. We even had to shut down the resort on March 2nd because of a massive winter storm that came in heavy and blocked the roads. It was the first time we’ve ever shut down due to weather in Targhee’s history. Thanks to the hard work of our staff and the local plow crews, we were able to overcome the closure and reopen the next day!

March continued to bring in good snow for the first few weeks before we got our first glimpse of spring skiing. Winter decided to make a come in mid April and we were treated to a few last minute pow days!

What makes Targhee the special place that it is? Our employees! This year’s crew was all-time. The lefties kept the stoke alive, ski patrol kept us safe, and ski school made sure all the up-and-comers were ready to take their skills to the next level. The parking crew welcomed all of our guests with a smile and kept the traffic flowing all year long  Every department worked together this year to ensure another epic season!

Our Event team put together an action-packed schedule this winter. Some crowd favorites this year were the New Year's Eve Rail Jam and Torchlight Parade, Teton Surf Classic, and Pond Skim. This was also Targhee’s first year hosting the U14 Regional Championships for the USSA Inter-Mountain Division. These speedsters flew down Palmers Raceway and braved variable conditions on the track. The IFSA Freeride competitors shredded on Reliable and Bobcat as well. From the Junior to the Adult comp, these kids went big in true Teton style.
