Visiting Instructor Policy

We have a world-class PSIA/AASI certified Ski and Snowboard School with instructors and coaches with vast experience and extensive knowledge of local terrain and conditions. As such, we have a policy for instructors, coaches, and guides (henceforth referred to as “instructors”) who would like to visit Grand Targhee with their personal clients.

Grand Targhee Mountain Sports School Visiting Instructor Policy 2024-2025

The home resort Director/Manager must contact the GTR-MSS 48 hours prior to arrival to provide visiting instructor and guest names.

Requirements: 

  • GTR will provide the visiting instructor with complementary lift access. Please provide a letter of reciprocity to GTR. Lift access passes may be acquired at the Activity Center located in our resort base area. The guest(s) will purchase lift access at the Activity Center. GTR actively manages lift access daily, please inform guests that they should purchase lift access as far in advance as possible. 
  • Lesson product is booked at the visiting instructor’s home resort ensuring USFS fees are paid.
  • Visiting instructors are compensated and covered by workers compensation by their home resort.
  • Visiting instructors are required to wear their home resort uniform and nametag.
  • Visiting instructors are required to wear a helmet while teaching. 
  • Visiting instructors with guests may not use the Mountain Sports School priority lift lines.
  • The visiting instructor must comply with all GTR policies and procedures.
  • Visiting instructor may only instruct within the ski area boundaries.

The Ski School Director or other Grand Targhee Resort management reserves the right to refuse any visiting instructor, coach, or guide the right to work with our guests. The policy does not apply under a reciprocal agreement with Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and Snow King Mountain.

All uphill travel IS CLOSED.

Mountain Safety
