Targhee Music Camp
It is with great joy that we announce the 15th Anniversary edition of the Targhee Music Camp August 7-10, 2023.
The event is a collaboration of music enthusiasts and players of all ages and ability levels mixed with some of the best musicians in the world who gather at Grand Targhee Ski Resort for 4 days of music classes, workshops, jam sessions and intimate concerts. There are classes in guitar, mandolin, banjo, bass, fiddle, songwriting, singing and pursuits of music. In addition, for the first time there will be a children’s class track.
Joining us will be two dozen professional musicians, many of whom will be playing later in the week at the 33rd Annual Grand Targhee Bluegrass Festival (August 11-13). Included in the list of instructors this year are the Travelin’ McCourys band, which along with their father Del McCoury and his traditional bluegrass sound are one of the most influential families in American music. Also, joining us will be ground breaking fiddler Darol Anger, who along with David Grisman pioneered new-acoustic music in the 1970s by exploring jazz and classical music with string band instruments and continues today with some of the brightest young stars in their band Mr. Sun. Darrell Scott’s songwriting classes at Targhee are as legendary as the powder day you’ll never forget. Joe Craven’s creativity sprouts like Old Faithful in a fountain of music that is an American treasure. Add to this the mandolin of Sharon Gilchrist, the Celtic fiddle of Jessie Burns (Gaelic Storm), the singing instruction of Val Mindel and more and the recipe for music good times and education are ready to go!

Folk music is for the folks and Grand Targhee has created a community of music lovers that share their passion and camaraderie to learn and share music for the whole week leading up to the bluegrass festival.
