Schedule for the Day
9:00 - 9:30am: You’ll check in at registration in the Targhee Base Area. At registration you will meet up with your team for the day. The teams will consist of 4 SheJumps volunteers and 12-15 participants of similar ski ability.
9:30 am: We will start the day with an all-teams morning meeting covering ski patrol basics, weather, and our agenda for the day. From there, teams will break out and proceed to their various stations throughout the mountain. Stations cover topics including first aid, avalanche safety, toboggan use, and beacon training. Along the way, there will be free skiing, surprises, and games, of course!
12:00pm: We will have a reserved space for lunch at the mountain. After lunch, all teams will hit the mountain, as they learn beacon skills to find buried treasure. There will also be an Avalanche Dog Demo where handlers will educate teams about the Grand Targhee Avalanche Dog program and demonstrate a burial rescue situation.
3:30 pm: The afternoon will wrap up with free skiing with the Patrollers and completion certificates handed out.
